James Nicol and Emma Carroll
Don’t miss this fabulous FREE event at Waterstones, Salisbury, as the hugely popular children’s authors James Nicol (The Apprentice Witch) and Emma Carroll (Strange Star) discuss their work, the books that inspire them and their shared love of magic and mystery.
James Nicol has loved books and stories his whole life. As a child he spent hours absorbed in novels, watching epic 1980’s cartoons or adventuring in the wood at the bottom of the garden searching for dragons, giants and witches. He lives on the edge of the Cambridgeshire Fens in a house with too many books and too many musical instruments with his partner and a black and white cockapoo called Bonnie.
‘Frost Hollow Hall’ is Emma Carroll’s debut novel for Faber and won the North East Book Award. Her second novel, ‘The Girl Who Walked On Air’ is set in a Victorian circus and was nominated for the Carnegie Medal 2015. ‘Strange Star’ was a Financial Times Book of the Year 2016, and her latest book ‘Letters From the Lighthouse’ was Waterstones Children’s Book of the Month For May. In another life she wishes she’d written ‘Rebecca’ by Daphne Du Maurier. Emma lives in the Somerset hills with her husband and three terriers.
