The Next Chapter: in aid of Salisbury Foodbank Trussell Trust
The Next Chapter pulls together the leading lights of the Salisbury literary scene, helping to raise money for Salisbury Foodbank by offering readers a sneak peek of their next publications. From literary fiction to children’s fiction, romance to crime, this is the first opportunity to hear works in progress that will be coming to a bookshop near you in the not-too-distant future. All artists at this event are performing for free, with all proceeds, including a raffle of some special literary prizes, going to support Salisbury Food Bank.
The authors joining us are – Barney Norris, Kristina Stephenson, Keggie Carew, Clare Empson, Tarn Richardson, Richard Parker, Mandy Baggot, Andy Maslen, Julia North and Tariq Goddard
From The Salisbury Food bank Trussell Trust – The Trussell Trust was formed by Paddy and Carol Henderson in Salisbury over 20 years ago. Salisbury food bank was the first and continues to support the community in and around our city. We provide three days of emergency food to people facing crisis and offer signposting to other professioanl welfare agencies to help them with their needs. There are 426 Trussell Trust food banks in the country and our charity is campaigning for change in the benefits system and more support for people on low income so that one day this number may reduce.
Salisbury Food bank gave out over 4,000 food parcels last year to people in our local community. Over 1,000 of these went to children. We rely on the support of local people to enable us to provide this service and whilst they have been amazing the need has increased by 19% in the last year so we continue to need your help! We collect food from the public but we also need funds to provide storage facilities, transport, equipment and team! By purchasing a ticket for this event you are helping us to serve our neighbours. So please accept our thanks – you are amazing!
